Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to lead our design group and guide team members with their skill sets and aptitude. This individual will apply creative design skills, knowledge of manufacturing techniques, and Computer Aided Design Drafting practices to review layout, assembly, and detail drawings for mechanical, structural, piping, electrical, and electronic equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop a budget and schedule for work assigned to the group, working closely with the supervisor.
  • Assign tasks, ensure the budget is maintained, and scheduled dates are met.
  • Perform independent reviews or original design and interact with engineering and manufacturing personnel to ensure performance and efficiency of manufacture, assembly, and integration.
  • Check technical accuracy and completeness of all drafting.
  • Review drawings, layout, and detailed design of mechanical systems using various drafting techniques (AutoCAD or SolidWorks).
  • Interface with clients and supervise the work of one or more designers on multiple projects.
  • Mentor design personnel within the group when needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate degree in a related engineering field or equivalent work experience.
  • Formal training in the use of solid modeling software (i.e. SolidWorks).
  • At least ten years' experience working with Military Standards and other Government specifications.
  • Proficiency using software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office products.
  • A working knowledge of U.S. Navy specifications and requirements related to Structural, Mechanical, Piping, and Electrical drawings.
  • The ability to obtain a clearance.
Estimated Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
