Job Summary
">The Carilion Clinic Lower Extremity clinic is a dynamic, high-volume, and fast-paced setting where we care for a diverse patient population. Our team uses a collaborative approach to provide quality care, working alongside our providers and orthopaedic technologists.
">This position may require floating to other Ortho sites or locations.
">As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide practical nursing support in a physician practice or clinic setting as directed by the provider. Your responsibilities will include:
">- Completing patient assessments to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint, current medications, etc.">
- Preparing patients for provider evaluations, including obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, assisting during exams, and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.">
- Administering medications and injections as directed by the provider.">
- Maintaining work areas, exam, treatment, and x-ray rooms, and lab in a clean and safe manner; restocking with supplies and instruments; sterilizing reusable equipment as needed.">
- Documenting patient information in the electronic medical record.">
- Providing patient teaching as indicated and directed by the provider, including lab results, diet instructions, medication instructions, appropriate follow-up, and reinforcing provider instructions as needed.">
- Assisting with referral authorizations for specialists and pre-authorizations for testing and ancillary services.">
- Assisting with lab procedures.">
Requirements
">To be successful in this role, you should have:
">- A graduate degree from an accredited school of practical nursing or be eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.">
- One year of experience in a physician office preferred.">
- Licensure as a Practical Nurse in the State of Virginia (LPN) required. Licensure as a Radiologic Technician Limited if performing radiology. Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.">
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.">
- Ability to utilize automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.">
- Keyboarding skills required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.">
