Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Career Counselor to join our team at VCU Career Services. As a Career Counselor, you will provide career counseling and advising services to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, as well as alumni, in designated departments, schools, and industries/professions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise students on career exploration, job search strategies, and graduate school options.
  • Develop and deliver career-related programs, workshops, and outreach sessions.
  • Build relationships with faculty, staff, employers, and other campus units to promote collaboration and industry-specific programming.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the VCU Career Services Strategic Plan.
  • Perform other duties to support team operations and strategic plan.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience in higher education, recruitment, or related field.
  • Ability to advise college students and/or young professionals on career-related topics.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in counseling, college student development, or related field.
  • More than one year of experience in higher education, recruitment, or related field.
  • Experience advising students on career-related topics, ideally in arts, design, entrepreneurship, or related fields.
