Financial Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team at LHH Recruitment Solutions in Seattle, WA.

About the Job

This is a 6-month contract position that requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities. The successful candidate will support the financial health of our client by performing daily accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal and external regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. General Ledger Management:
  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and prepaid expenses.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable:
  • Review, process, and post vendor invoices and employee expense reports.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Prepare and process payments, including ACH, wire transfers, and checks.
Financial Reporting:
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and management reports.
  • Maintain supporting schedules for fixed assets, prepaids, and accrued expenses.
  • Contribute to variance analysis for budget-to-actual reporting.
Bank and Account Reconciliations:
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
Compliance and Audits:
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules to support internal and external audits.
Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency within accounting processes.
  • Assist in implementing best practices and new accounting software or tools.
Other Duties:
  • Support the Accounting Manager and team with ad hoc projects and tasks as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in general ledger and financial reporting.
    • Experience in a corporate, nonprofit, or public accounting environment is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas).
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Estimated Salary Range: $28-$32/hour
