Located in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the University of New Mexico - Hospitals is seeking a skilled Critical Care Nurse to join our team.

Salary: $83,000 - $110,000 per year

About the Job

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate nurse to work in our Surgical Specialty Unit (4-S). As a Critical Care Nurse, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients and provide high-quality patient care.

Job Description

  • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required
  • Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies
  • Implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensure proper consent has been obtained
  • Participate in orientation; upon successful completion of preceptor training assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
  • Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information
  • Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A nationally accredited nursing graduate degree
  • A valid RN license in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification within 30 days
  • Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo language skills
