Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Director to lead our Information Technology Department at Cibola General Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department, establishing policies and procedures, and directing and supervising staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security and Compliance: Facilitate the development, implementation, and oversight of all activities pertaining to Health Information Security efforts to ensure compliance with HIPAA Security Regulations.
  • Staff Management: Select, train, and assign department staff, develop standards of performance, evaluate annual performance, and initiate or recommend personnel actions.
  • Department Goals and Objectives: Develop department goals and objectives, and establish and implement policies and procedures for department operation.
  • Financial Management: Develop and recommend department operating budget, and ensure that the department operates within budget.
  • Contract Negotiations: Perform contract negotiations with current and new vendors.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Direct the preparation and maintenance of department reports, and prepare periodic reports for Administration as required.
  • IT Department Activities: Plan, organize, and direct IT Department activities.
  • Equipment and Supply Management: Determine and document space, equipment, supply, and service requirements.
  • Equipment Evaluation and Acquisition: Evaluate equipment capabilities and recommend equipment, hardware, and software acquisitions for the IT Department and personal computer usage throughout the hospital.
  • System Modifications and Requests: Establish priorities for system modifications and requests.
  • Customer Service: Insure prompt and courteous feedback to requestors of computer services and telephone services within the hospital.
  • Facilities and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain department facilities and equipment in a condition to promote efficiency and safety of staff.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in the field of expertise.
  • Telephone System Maintenance: Maintain and oversee adequate updates, backups, logs, and retention of records for computers and telephone system.
  • Training and Development: Conduct group training or individual training on software for entire hospital staff.
  • Committee Participation: Participate in hospital committee meetings as required.
  • Interdepartmental Cooperation: Cooperate with other departments and staff to fulfill the aim and purpose of the organization and its goals.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Understand and act in accordance with CGH's Compliance Policy/Code of Conduct, and report to the Compliance Coordinator any conduct or activity that could be considered questionable, unethical, or illegal.
  • Information Security: Develop, implement, test, and review the organization's information security in order to protect information and prevent unauthorized access.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • Experience: Project management and five (5) years of IT management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Field of Expertise: Extensive knowledge of computer hardware (Dell, HP, Cisco), computer systems, data communications, and major software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, database, and graphics) HMS Clinical Systems, experience preferred. Two years working experience with Active Directory.
