Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Rehabilitation Specialist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in helping patients recover from physical, mental, or developmental challenges that limit their ability to perform daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Conduct thorough assessments to understand patients' needs, strengths, limitations, and goals.
    • Evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities using standardized tests, interviews, and observations.
    • Develop comprehensive evaluation reports identifying areas for improvement, potential goals, and required interventions.
  • Developing Treatment Plans:
    • Create personalized treatment plans addressing specific patient needs, based on assessment results.
    • Set measurable goals for improvement in areas such as self-care, mobility, work performance, and cognitive skills.
    • Recommend therapeutic activities and exercises tailored to the patient's abilities and progress.
  • Providing Therapeutic Interventions:
    • Implement individualized therapy programs to enhance motor skills, cognitive function, sensory processing, and social interaction.
    • Use activities like exercises, therapeutic games, fine motor skills tasks, and adaptive strategies to promote independence.
    • Work with patients on daily activities such as dressing, bathing, cooking, and using adaptive equipment for mobility.
    • Teach patients new ways to complete tasks and daily activities, including recommendations for ergonomic practices and assistive devices.
  • Patient Education and Support:
    • Educate patients and their families about the rehabilitation process, techniques, and strategies for enhancing functional independence.
    • Provide guidance on using adaptive equipment and tools, such as splints and mobility aids.
    • Offer emotional support and encouragement throughout the recovery process.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, physical therapists, speech therapists, and nursing staff, to provide comprehensive care.
    • Participate in care planning meetings and share insights about patient progress and therapy requirements.
    • Regularly communicate with families and caregivers to update them on progress and offer guidance on supporting patient therapy goals at home.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient progress, therapy sessions, and any modifications made to treatment plans.
    • Document and report patient progress in compliance with healthcare regulations.
    • Complete necessary reports and update care teams on patient progress, challenges, and success.
  • Rehabilitation and Recovery:
    • Monitor and reassess patient progress regularly to ensure therapy goals are being met.
    • Adjust treatment plans as necessary based on patient feedback and progress.
    • Help patients transition from therapy to independent living, ensuring they are prepared to manage daily tasks outside of a clinical environment.
  • Advocacy and Community Resources:
    • Advocate for patients to ensure access to necessary resources and support services.
    • Provide patients and families with information about community programs, support groups, and other resources that may assist in their rehabilitation.
  • Maintaining Continuing Education:
    • Stay current with new developments in occupational therapy by participating in workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses.
    • Ensure licensure and certifications remain up-to-date.
