Assistant Nurse Manager Medical Surgical Unit Leader

Job Summary
NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking a skilled and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our Medical Surgical Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and management for a designated time-period (shift) for a clinical service, consistent with the philosophy and goals of the institution, Departments of Nursing, unit, or program.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the Nurse Manager(s) to develop and sustain an environment of excellence in patient / family service, growth and development of staff, and to apply evidence-based practice to improve patient care.
- Provides clinical leadership by assessing, implementing and evaluating the care provided to patients and families in the critical care division.
- Participates in Performance Management activities by assisting the NM to monitor the quality and safety metrics of acute patient care.
- Acts as a professional role model to all levels of staff by incorporating expertise, critical thinking and related experience in all aspects of nursing process in the care of patients and families.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.
- A minimum of two years of clinical practice in the care of the patient population in Labor and Delivery; ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion which addresses patient/family satisfaction.
- Progressive advancement in the clinical experience and professional development demonstrated through continuing education, specialty certification and/or participation in evidence-based research projects/studies or progression on the clinical ladder.
