Mammography Imaging Specialist

As a Mammography Imaging Specialist with PSG Global Solutions Careers, you will play a critical role in assisting in the diagnosis of patient illness by performing examinations of patients of all ages. This position requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with physicians, patients, family members, and team members in an autonomous, responsible, professional, and ethical manner.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform mammography exams on all patients for the purpose of breast cancer detection while delivering exceptional patient care.
• Maintain compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Evaluate images for quality and facility standards.
• Maintain equipment according to Infection Control procedures and perform quality control procedures as requested.
• Maintain clinical and technical competency through continued education and participation in training programs.
• Follow facilities quality assurance guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality/HIPAA.
• Perform screening and diagnostic mammography imaging procedures according to department procedures and protocols.
• Adjust equipment and instruct patients to eliminate imaging artifacts.
• Monitor patients for potentially dangerous physical and emotional changes.
• Evaluate imaging results for positioning and technical accuracy.
• Review images with peers and physicians for critique.
• Inform physicians of preliminary findings as requested according to department guidelines/procedures.
• Distribute completed test results to physicians and service providers according to department guidelines/procedures.
• Prepare diagnostic information for physician interpretation according to department guidelines/procedures.
• Maintain patient charts, enter diagnosis and billing codes, log data into patient information systems, and update file systems for tests performed according to department guidelines/procedures.
• Clean and sterilize equipment and workspace.
• Recognize equipment malfunctions and readjust equipment or write/call in for repair.
• Instruct patients in pretest preparation, answer questions, and explain procedures according to department guidelines/procedures.
• Maintain current Permits to Practice in all states in which services are performed.
• Perform equipment quality checks and troubleshoot problems. Call for service and notify all pertinent team members.
• Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
• Technologist background with a minimum of 1 year mammography clinical experience.
• Valid ARRT license, registered in Mammography.
• Valid CPR certificate, as needed.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to interact with client personnel and team members in an autonomous, responsible, professional, and ethical manner.
• Must be flexible, reliable, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
• Strong positive change agent.
