Join the San Diego State University Research Foundation team as a KPBS Planned Giving Officer and play a critical role in securing the future of public media in San Diego.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Planned Giving Officer to join our Development team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding planned giving donors to support the mission of KPBS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive planned giving strategy to increase revenue and secure the future of KPBS.
  • Build and maintain relationships with planned giving donors, including identifying and qualifying new prospects, cultivating existing donors, and stewarding gifts.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to create marketing campaigns and materials to promote planned giving opportunities.
  • Administer all planned gifts, including processing stock gifts, facilitating life insurance premiums, and managing the tracking of planned giving trusts and gifts.
  • Manage the Planned Giving Advisory Committee, including leading quarterly meetings and coordinating events and committee activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of full-time professional experience in development work, preferably in a non-profit organization with an annual budget over $20 million.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in complex planned giving vehicles, including bequests, life-income gifts, and gifts of insurance, real estate, and retirement assets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with donors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic and commitment to follow-through.
