We are partnering with a home essentials manufacturing company in its search for a Sr Tool and Die Maker in a direct hire job opportunity with awesome benefits. The company pays for relocation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Build
    • Construct dies from complex blueprints and build jigs and fixtures from sketches, part drawings, or verbal instructions.
    • Design and build needed tooling even without drawings.
  • Plan and Execute
    • Plan construction procedures and methods, selecting the proper materials.
    • Make allowances for shrinkage during the heat-treating of tools and metal flow in dies.
  • Repair and Maintain
    • Repair molds and dies by identifying and correcting problems.
    • Analyze and troubleshoot die cast molds and progressive dies, assess problems, and repair accordingly.
    • Disassemble and reassemble all types of progressive dies and die cast molds for routine maintenance or repairs.
  • Support and Train
    • Provide support to the production area by problem-solving and building tools.
    • Instruct Tool Room Apprentices and Jr. Tool Makers.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • 1-2 years Machining/Manufacturing Technologies course completion University/College level.
    • Precision Instruments and measuring.
    • Print reading.
    • Machining processes and controls.
    • Quality Control systems and documentation.
    • Must have their own tools and tool box.
    • Minimum of 4 years Tool Making (progressive die building and repairing) experience.
  • Technical Competencies
    • Able to read a complex set of blueprints.
    • Able to recognize and compensate for design flaws while maintaining design intent.
    • Able to analyze and troubleshoot progressive carbide lamination dies or multi-cavity Die Cast Molds.
    • Steps up to lead the team when needed, providing direction to the team when supervisor or Lead is unavailable.
    • Must have a complete knowledge of all tool room equipment and procedures.
    • Able to operate drill presses, lathes, milling machines, surface grinding, and precision measuring equipment.
    • Knowledge of and ability to perform oxygen/acetylene welding techniques as well as TIG.
    • Able to solve mathematical equations and problems using geometry and trigonometry.
    • Ability to operate CNC and Wire EDM machines is desirable.
