Join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals at Barton HealthCare System as a Polysomnography Technologist. As a key member of our Sleep Studies Lab team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our lab.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Polysomnography Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing polysomnographic testing, scheduling procedures, and tracking sleep studies from acquisition to interpretation and filing. You will also provide routine clerical support, answer phones, and relay messages to patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform polysomnographic testing according to established policies and procedures, ensuring testing is safe and effective.
  • Schedule procedures and track sleep studies from acquisition to interpretation and filing.
  • Provide routine clerical support, answer phones, and relay messages to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Sleep Studies Lab department to ensure timely results and efficient workflow.
  • Inventory and manage supplies, ensuring that stock levels are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and fellow employees, demonstrating courtesy, cooperation, respect, and sensitivity at all times.
  • Recognize unusual conditions outside of your expertise and seek guidance from your supervisor or other appropriate staff.
  • Stay up-to-date on policies and procedures, able to access documents, and adhere to all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Help develop departmental policies and procedures that guide polysomnographic testing and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of documentation in patient medical records for each patient interaction.
  • Ensure polysomnographic testing is safe and accurate, calibrating and adjusting equipment according to standards and manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Perform job-related duties in a safe manner, following procedure when equipment malfunctions.
  • Respond to crisis situations in an effective and professional manner, prioritizing needs, utilizing support staff appropriately, and making appropriate decisions based on sound rationale.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education/experience.
  • Accredited Sleep Program.
  • One year of polysomnography testing experience and a background in science &/or anatomy and physiology training preferred.
  • Knowledge of EEG, EKG, EOG, EMG, Respiratory Care, Polysomnography, and their computer-assisted analysis preferred.
  • Computer skills-proficient in data entry and word processing.
  • Sufficient computer skills as are required to complete an online application and the pre-employment/annual Net Learning requirements.
  • In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English; Bilingual abilities preferred.
  • RPSGT or RRT-SDS certification.
  • California Polysomnographic Technologist or Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Subject to pressure due to irregular hours, frequent interruptions, and stressful situations due to multiple demands. Occasional travel to various health system locations.
