Job Summary

Seminole Electric is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Energy Management Systems (EMS) and SCADA operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and tactical leadership to a multi-discipline team of engineers and technical resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the organization's System Protection and Operational Technology philosophy, ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and enterprise standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead the development and execution of capital projects across the project lifecycle, minimizing adverse impacts to project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Direct the recruitment, selection, training, and development of a team of professional and technical resources, ensuring effective teamwork and employee collaboration.
  • Manage the planning, development, and execution of departmental budgets, work plans, and associated contracts, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including employees, customers, and external partners.
  • Ensure the high-availability and reliable operations of the EMS, its communication infrastructure, and associated field equipment, ensuring compliance with all applicable NERC CIP and Reliability standard requirements and measures.
  • Develop and implement processes, workflows, engineering, and design standards, with Operational Technology, Generation, and Transmission system protection.
  • Review, approve, and assign all user change requests to the appropriate EMS Engineer, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project schedules.
  • Plan, direct, and manage the work deliverables of departmental personnel, maximizing performance and individual development, and ensuring effective teamwork and employee collaboration.
  • Administer and comply with Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. Board policies associated with the integrated transmission system.
  • Actively engage in negotiation and administration of contracts and agreements, ensuring terms are negotiated and administered in the best interests of the Cooperative.
Requirements
  • BS Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required. Advanced degree in engineering preferred.
  • Twelve (12) years of progressive experience in electric utility environment, including at least six (6) years of direct experience in computer control systems, EMS, and associated field equipment, system protection with emphasis on design and settings, and at least three (3) years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role with recruitment and selection, training and development, and/or performance management accountabilities.
  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Professional Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with all levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Proven track record of providing leadership to meet established goals and foster an environment of continuous improvement and professional development.

Working Conditions

Some travel and work outside of normal business hours. Occasional travel to various locations in state and out-of-state to visit job sites and attend meetings with consultants and equipment suppliers is required. While working in certain areas of the plant, there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment. Requires 24/7 availability and is subject to callouts at any time, which may include extended periods during inclement weather or other emergency conditions.
