Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant in Training to join our team at Alden Terrace of McHenry. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Assist nurse aides with designated resident care, focusing on eating, drinking, and personal hygiene.
  • Receive and carry out instructions concerning resident care needs, ensuring timely and effective delivery of services.
  • Assist with resident activities and transportation, promoting a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Participate in developing a written plan of care for each resident, identifying problems and needs.
  • Attend and actively participate in resident care plan conferences, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Report all concerns and complaints made by residents or their families to the Administrator, maintaining a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, ensuring a calm environment throughout the department.
  • Participate in In-service Education Programs, staying up-to-date on the latest healthcare practices and procedures.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective orientation program, ensuring new team members are well-informed and prepared.
  • Recommends equipment and supply needs to the Director of Nursing, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Inventory and store residents' personal possessions, maintaining a secure and organized environment.
  • Assist residents with packing personal possessions when transferring to a new room or being discharged.
  • Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty, ensuring seamless communication and continuity of care.
  • Maintain intake and output records as instructed, checking and reporting bowel movements and stool character.
  • Make occupied and unoccupied beds, change bed linens, and straighten rooms, closet, and drawers, notifying housekeeping of any mattress cleaning or replacement needs.
  • Answer call lights promptly, answer telephone calls as needed, and run errands as requested, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Obtain blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, heights, and weights as needed, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Check skin condition when dressing, undressing, turning/repositioning, and report any skin abnormalities to the Staff Nurse.
  • Observe residents' physical condition, attitude, reactions, appetite, and report any changes or unusual findings to the Nurse/RCC, ensuring timely updates to the care plan.
  • Perform personal services for residents, such as reading and writing letters, as time allows, promoting a sense of community and connection.
  • Encourage residents to help themselves and promote self-care in aiding rehabilitation, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
  • Assist with care of dying and expired residents, providing compassionate and respectful care.
  • Record resident food/fluid intake, complete meal monitor forms as indicated, and report changes in eating habits to the Staff Nurse.
  • Keep residents' water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water on each shift, unless contraindicated, promoting hydration and comfort.
  • Serve between meals and bedtime snacks, ensuring residents' nutritional needs are met.
  • Wear a transfer belt at all times and utilize as needed, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Keep the nurses' call system within easy reach of residents, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Report all hazardous equipment and conditions to the Staff Nurse immediately, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility's Quality Assurance program for the Nursing Department, ensuring continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
