Colorectal Surgery Nurse

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a skilled Colorectal Surgery Nurse to join our team. As a Colorectal Surgery Nurse, you will work alongside passionate caregivers to provide patient-first healthcare. Responsibilities:- Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Implements and monitors patient care plans, ensuring the highest quality and safest care for adult patients.
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care, adhering to a strict patient-to-staff ratio of 6:1.
- Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders, ensuring timely and effective communication.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team, ensuring a smooth transition to home or further care.
- Maintains professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study, staying up-to-date with the latest medical advancements.
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing, with a BSN preferred.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of employment, depending on the unit.
- Two years of recent related nursing experience, with internal applicants with less than two years' experience considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval.
The H51 Colorectal Surgery Unit is a positive, team-oriented, and supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift. Experienced caregivers on H51 are eager to educate newer nurses, and a caregiver in H51 can expect to gain a strong medical foundation with true medical/surgical nursing skills.
A caregiver in this position can expect to work a minimum of four hour shifts in each 6-week scheduling period. The unit focuses on the treatment of patients with Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Colon Cancer, and genetic bowel diseases, with a dedicated team providing the highest quality and safest care to adult patients.
