Job Summary:

As a Data Manager at NuAxis Innovations, you will play a crucial role in serving as a bridge between scientific expertise and technical requirements in managing species information. Your primary responsibility will be to participate in the organization, integration, and analysis of species data, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and usability for our team of researchers and scientists.

Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with biologists, ecologists, and technologists to understand their data management needs and objectives, developing and implementing effective data management strategies, and designing and maintaining a comprehensive data architecture that supports the diverse needs of our team.

You will also be responsible for ensuring data quality and integrity through the implementation of data validation procedures, data cleaning techniques, and regular data audits, as well as developing and managing data dictionaries, metadata standards, and data documentation to facilitate data discovery, understanding, and interoperability.

Additionally, you will establish and maintain data governance policies, including access controls, security measures, and data sharing protocols, in compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.

Collaboration with technologists to identify and implement appropriate data management systems, tools, and software to support the storage, retrieval, and analysis of species data is also a key aspect of this role.

You will provide training, training tools, and support to biologists and researchers in data management best practices, data entry techniques, and data analysis tools, and stay up to date with emerging trends, technologies, and standards in data management and biodiversity informatics.

Finally, you will recommend improvements and innovations to enhance our data management capabilities and contribute to the publication and dissemination of species data, collaborating with the team to produce high-quality reports, papers, and datasets.

Qualifications:
Experience in data management, preferably in a scientific or biological research environment, is essential. A strong understanding of species biology, taxonomy, and ecological concepts is also required.

Proficiency in data management principles, data modeling, and data integration techniques is necessary, as well as familiarity with database management systems and data manipulation languages. Experience with data visualization tools and statistical analysis software is also desirable.

Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously, are essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail, are also required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of biologists and technologists, are necessary. A passion for biodiversity conservation and an understanding of the importance of species data management in scientific research and conservation efforts are also essential.
