Job Title: Histology Technician - Per Diem

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Histology Technician, you will play a crucial role in preparing and staining specimens, accessing specimens for billing, and maintaining the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform sections and gross sectioning, fixing, processing, embedding, cutting, staining, coverslipping, and mounting of tissue.
  • Train other histology technicians as required to cover the laboratory.
  • Maintain section laboratory and equipment, including re-ordering stock items as needed.
  • Produce and maintain accurate records and bills for all work performed.
  • Set up, maintain, operate, and clean all laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Properly dispose of all chemicals and prepare hazardous waste for pick up.
  • Maintain quality control data for the laboratory.
  • Perform specialized tests, including special stains, immunoperoxidase, cytospin, centrifuge techniques, and preparation of smears.
Requirements:
  • HT ASCP registration is preferred, along with 1-year of college, with courses in biology and chemistry.
  • 2-years of experience in histology is preferred.
