Job Overview

The University of California San Francisco is seeking an exceptional Division Management Executive to provide strategic leadership for a robust, multi-division unit across three campuses.

This role involves overseeing administrative operations, financial management, and human resources, ensuring the efficient delivery of clinical services, research, and laboratory operations. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Division Chief, faculty members, and staff to maximize resource utilization and maintain administrative excellence.

About the Role

As Division Management Executive, you will serve as a risk manager, establishing internal control mechanisms and monitoring operational areas. You will also oversee the work of others in personnel management, finance, and other critical functions, identifying and minimizing or eliminating risks, and implementing changes to prevent recurrence.

You will have the opportunity to negotiate, problem-solve, and achieve consensus with administrators and faculty outside the Department of Medicine, leveraging collaborative agreements that support shared goals in research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee administrative operations, including financial management, human resources, and space planning.
  • Work collaboratively with the Division Chief and faculty members to develop strategic plans and ensure effective implementation.
  • Maintain administrative excellence in all aspects of the divisions, clinical services centers, and research operations.
  • Serve as a risk manager, establishing internal control mechanisms and monitoring operational areas.
  • Negotiate, problem-solve, and achieve consensus with administrators and faculty outside the Department of Medicine.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum eight years of progressively responsible academic and financial management experience.
  • At least five years of experience hiring and managing high-performing employees.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, human resources, and risk management planning.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the capability to manage capital projects.
  • Strong leadership abilities to oversee multiple functions or departments through subordinate managers.
