We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist I to join our team at Quest Diagnostics Incorporated. As a Histotechnologist I, you will play a critical role in preparing slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists, ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy in our laboratory results.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures, including manual and automated methods.
- Obtain, verify, and validate tissue used in special stains, ensuring compliance with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Perform all special stain procedures, including manual and automated methods, with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- May prepare solutions and reagents for IHC procedures, and obtain, verify, and validate control material used in IHC procedures.
- May perform IHC testing, including gross tissue examination, if meets personnel qualifications set forth by the 1988 CLIA CFR 493.1489 and the corporate Minimum Qualifications for Non-Pathologist Performing Gross Tissue Examinations SOP.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, troubleshoot minor equipment failures, and document remedial actions.
- Provide training and guidance to Histotechnicians, students, and lab aides, ensuring a high level of competence and confidence in laboratory procedures.
- Perform limited QA/QC functions, identify issues requiring troubleshooting, and ensure compliance with laboratory's quality control policies.
- Ensure all corporate safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met, and compliance with all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
- AS degree or HT (ASCP) with equivalent training and experience.
- 1 year Histology experience.
- Current state licensure, if applicable.
- Any state-specific certification and/or registration requirements.
- Meet all requirements as outlined in corporate Policy for Minimum Qualifications for Histotechnician and Histology Supervisor.
- If performing Immunohistochemistry testing, meet all requirements as outlined in corporate Minimum Qualifications for Personnel Performing Immunohistochemistry Testing SOP.
- BS degree.
- HTL (ASCP).
- Graduate of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program.
- 3 years of histopathology experience.
- Immunohistochemistry experience.
- The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects, with a focus on manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time, with frequent walking and/or standing.
