We are seeking an experienced Financial Manager to join our team at the International Fellowship of Christians & Jews, Inc. in Chicago.

Job Description

The Financial Manager will oversee the month-end close process, financial reporting, and budgeting processes for our organization. This includes conducting financial analysis using generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and providing accurate and timely interpretation of financial data for management, the board of directors, auditors, and tax authorities.

This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and adhering to documented accounting policies and procedures to ensure strong internal control systems. The Financial Manager will also lead the development and distribution of monthly financial reports and ensure the integrity and accuracy of general ledger transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight of the monthly closing process to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Ensuring general ledger transactions are accurate and properly documented
  • Creation and distribution of monthly financial reports
  • Maintenance of internal controls and accuracy through ongoing monitoring and evaluation of tools, systems, and procedures
  • Liaison with external accountants for audit and 990 preparation, including creation of necessary schedules
Budgeting
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting, preparing schedules and reports as needed
  • Participation in budget-to-actual reviews and provision of financial training to budget owners
Leadership
  • Supervision of direct reports in financial reporting and accounts payable, ensuring team success and performance
  • Serving as primary point of contact for non-US office accounting and finance operations

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification. Minimum of 7 years' experience in non-profit reporting accounting or finance, including 3 years of management experience. A Master's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, as well as experience in charitable non-profit environments with high-volume donor transactions and public accounting experience.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and non-profit tax preparation (990s)
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office Suite 365, intermediate to advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Skilled in preparing and reviewing financial statements, account analysis, and general ledger with attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with sophisticated accounting systems
  • Exceptional analytical skills, ability to 'tell a story' from numbers and provide sound recommendations
  • Strong communication skills, able to work with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain attention to detail, and excellent follow-up

Our headquarters is located on Wacker Drive, offering stunning views of the Chicago Riverwalk. We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement savings plans, and ample time off.
