Health Technician-Telehealth Clinical

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Health Technician-Telehealth Clinical to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support in a telehealth setting.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the clinical environment for telehealth encounters, including setting up medical and telecommunications equipment.
- Serve as a telepresenter during clinical video telehealth (CVT) and VA Video Connect (WC) encounters, establishing and maintaining video conferencing connections and making introductions between patient and provider sites.
- Manage clinical data and images for store and forward telehealth (SFT) encounters, capturing and transmitting them electronically for clinical review in accordance with VHA national guidelines.
- Ensure patient care is delivered safely by following appropriate procedures for inventory management, cleaning of clinical equipment, and patient safety guidelines.
- Complete standardized clinical questionnaires and templates within scope of training and applicable guidelines.
- Protect patient privacy by complying with all information security and patient privacy regulations.
- Receive and schedule requests for telehealth appointments, screen patients for telehealth modality, and refer patients that do not meet established criteria to appropriate care.
- Monitor and maintain schedules of rooms, patients, technologies, clinical providers, and presenters to ensure efficient telehealth operations.
- Provide patient education via approved materials and support the Veteran in completing patient satisfaction surveys.
- Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff at the assigned local site and those located at remote sites of care.
- Configure, install, troubleshoot, clean, and perform minor routine maintenance of assigned telehealth technology.
- Provide established education and training to Veterans, staff, and providers on the use of telehealth technologies and serve as a point of contact to answer questions and address concerns related to these technologies.
- Maintain knowledge of and skill in applying an extensive body of rules, procedures, and operations in telehealth-related technologies and a variety of computer hardware and software used for telecommunications, data entry and retrieval, record maintenance, document, and report generation.
- Work with other staff members and the Facility Telehealth Coordinator to resolve process issues, equipment needs, problems, data collection, and logistical issues.
- Arrange and complete test video calls with Veterans to prepare them for clinical encounters using telehealth technologies.
- Ensure information and resources are maintained for local and remote telehealth providers so they can effectively execute contingency and emergency plans.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Must be able to serve a probationary period.
- Must be subject to background/security investigation.
- Must be able to complete an online onboarding process.
- Must be able to participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program.
- Must be able to participate in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program.
- One year of experience in a health care field that demonstrates the ability to perform the work or provides an understanding of the work.
- Four academic years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation.
- Experience/Education Combination: An equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable.
