Job Description

The Rapid Response Team RN (RRT) will respond to all RRTs, Code Blues, Heart Alerts, Stroke Alerts, Sepsis alerts, and any other patient care emergency. The RN RRT will perform surveillance by identifying patients at risk for complications or becoming seriously ill using a proactive approach, making frequent rounds to collaborate with bedside nurses as part of consultation without intimidating them.

The RN RRT will take the role of teacher both during and after the event to best help inexperienced nurses. Key responsibilities include:

  • Attending all RRTs, code blues, heart alerts, stroke alerts, sepsis alerts, and all other patient-related emergencies
  • Documenting all RRT events in a thorough and timely manner
  • Communicating professionally with the medical team and maintaining a strong collaborative relationship with the multidisciplinary team
  • Staying with the patient until the issue is resolved, appropriate interventions are completed, and/or the patient is safely transferred to the appropriate unit for ongoing management
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program
  • A current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License
  • 3-5 years of recent experience in an ICU or ER
  • ACLS, NIH stroke scale certification
