Paraprofessional Support Specialist

New Story School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, and collaborating with teachers and therapists to provide holistic support.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers in creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student success and well-being.
- Provide individualized support to students, helping them to understand and complete assignments, and ensuring they stay engaged with their learning.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and a productive learning atmosphere.
- Act as a bridge between students and teachers, facilitating communication and ensuring that each student's needs are understood and met.
- Aid in the preparation and delivery of instructional materials, adapting resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Offer emotional support and a compassionate presence, helping students navigate emotional and social challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to provide a comprehensive approach to each student's education and well-being.
- Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in special education, psychology, or a related field is a plus.
- Relevant Experience: Experience working with children with special needs or autism (e.g., RBT, mental health technician, teacher assistant, teacher aide)
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy and Patience: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Teamwork Mindset: Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of educators and specialists.
