We are seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Support Specialist to join our team at Gwinnett County Public Schools. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, providing financial support to principals and assistant principals, and overseeing local school disbursements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all financial transactions in the local school accounting software, adhering to GCPS Policy and Procedures, the Local School Accounting Manual, and general accounting principles.
  • Serve as the primary support for the principal regarding financial matters, including assisting with the annual school budget process and communicating areas of concern regarding school financials.
  • Verify and deposit all local school funds in a timely manner, reviewing and processing receipts into the appropriate account and preparing deposits.
  • Manage local school disbursements, reviewing check requests for proper documentation and availability of funds and processing approved vendor invoices for payment.
  • Serve as the school purchasing card manager, processing school purchasing/travel card transactions and submitting monthly reports and documentation.
  • Oversee local school online payment activities, serving as the primary contact for all online student activity payments and reconciling and posting electronic deposits to the local school accounting software.
  • Prepare all monthly financial reports and analysis, process reports for principal review and submission, and maintain and gather data for year-end reports.
Requirements:
  • Three years of accounting/bookkeeping experience required; experience with PeopleSoft or another Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software system preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reports; ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, work independently, and use strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and various integrated applications.
Estimated Salary:

$32,319 - $56,982 per annum, based on the requirements of the role and location within Gwinnett County.
