Clinical Dietitian

Geisinger Health System is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian to join our Inpatient Nutrition team. As a Clinical Dietitian, you will play a critical role in providing safe, ethical, and competent evidence-based nutritional therapy to our patients.

• Assess individual patient needs through synthesis of information obtained through assessment interviews, food and nutrition histories, and review of medical records.
• Develop personalized plans to meet assessed needs, including recommendations for diet and meal patterns, and supplements.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop goals related to patient care.
• Plan and coordinate the use of special dietary regimens.
• Evaluate nutritional status of individuals and make recommendations for optimal care.
• Counsel patients, families, and caregivers on normal nutrition and therapeutic diets, taking into account individual educational, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Plan and conduct group classes on various nutrition topics as needed.
• Write nutrition-related orders for hospitalized patients in accordance with Clinical Nutrition policy.
• Consult, educate, and advocate on behalf of individuals, groups, and special populations regarding food, culinary, nutrition, and health issues.
• Plan for continuing nutrition care for individuals after discharge from the hospital using ancillary resources.
• Contribute to and design referral processes and systems to facilitate public access to Registered Dietitians.
• Implement outcome-based quality assurance and performance improvement activities to document outcomes of service, compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures, and monitor customer satisfaction.

• Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or related field.
• Pennsylvania Registered Dietitian License required.
• Registered or eligible to sit for registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or qualify under a reciprocity agreement with CDR in conjunction with The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
