Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant I to join our Multispecialty team in Yonkers, NY. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide clinical office support to physicians and surgeons, and perform patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, including checking schedules and organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, and assisting with vital signs and medical procedures.
  • Provides clerical support, including sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, and completing forms and requisitions as needed.
  • Enters orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and prepares prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician for review and approval.
  • Inventory, orders, or re-stocks medical supplies as applicable, and maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following established standards and procedures.
  • Assists in the maintenance of medical charts, including filing, op reports, test results, and home care forms.
  • May schedule surgeries/procedures, verify times with patients, and prepare charts, pre-admissions, and consent forms as necessary.
  • May perform appointment scheduling and registration for patients, update patient demographic and insurance information, and verify pre-certification for procedures as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program from an approved school or equivalent training and experience
  • 2 years of Medical Assistant experience without the certificate program preferred
