The Occupational Therapist (OT) works under the supervision of the Rehab Supervisor and the Director of Rehab, responsible for organizing and conducting medically necessary therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part.

The OT helps patients reach their maximum performance and assumes a place in society while learning to live within any limits for their capabilities. The OT develops patient-centered, individualized therapy programs with a focus on delivering quality, value-based care consistent with Campbell County Health's vision, mission, and values.

The OT practices within the framework of the Wyoming Occupational Therapist Practice Act, American Occupational Therapy Association professional standards, and National Patient Safety Goals.

Essential Functions:
  1. Performs patient assessment and documents in the patient record that reflects skilled treatment, time billed, and accurate utilization of CPT codes.
  2. Develops an age-appropriate plan of care that addresses physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
  3. Implements the plan of care, delegates appropriately, and ensures documentation of interventions, completing all daily notes, charges, and other paperwork per CCH policy.
  4. Collaborates with the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) in maintaining an up-to-date supervisory form as per the WYOT State Practice Act and adheres to the statutes governing practice of the OT.
  5. Sees all patients as scheduled and assists with other patient needs throughout the continuum if needed, demonstrating fiscal responsibility, accountability, time management, and prioritization skills.
  6. Provides supervision of OTA and students in a manner that ensures safe and efficient care in accordance with CMS rules, the NBCOT, and WYOT statues.
  7. Evaluates progress towards desired outcomes, revises the plan of care, and intervenes as necessary, completing progress notes timely to provide support for continuation of skilled therapy.
  8. Educates patients and families regarding current health status, plan of care, and anticipated outcomes.
  9. Provides service excellence to all customers and positive interpersonal relations with all team members.
  10. Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice, staffing, and continuing education.
  11. Works scheduled work hours and participates in weekend coverage to meet patient needs; is flexible during times of high and low census and will provide coverage to other CCH service lines as needed.
  12. Maintains a clean and safe working environment that is conducive to high-quality care.
  13. Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program, including but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Education: Graduate of an approved/accredited occupational therapy school.
  2. Licensure: Must be licensed in or eligible to be licensed in the State of Wyoming. Current license holders must be in good standing with the WYOT.
  3. Experience: One year experience preferred.
  4. Certifications required: See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required to maintain professional licensure.
  2. Licensed professionals must strictly adhere to the ethical code of their respective discipline.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills needed in dealing with nursing staff, physicians, patients, families, and other members of the health care team.
  4. Knowledge of basic patient care procedures.
  5. Able to think quickly, handle various projects simultaneously with attention to accuracy, prioritization, patient request, detail, memory, problem-solving, reasoning, ability to memorize routine assignments, computer mnemonics, all with little or no supervision.
  6. Ability to analyze and manipulate numbers, percentages, and indexes from equipment for procedures.
  7. Ability to explain procedures to patients and speak clearly to communicate with patients, families, physicians, and staff regarding patient's condition, etc.
  8. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions and under stressful conditions including emergency situations.
  9. Analytical and reasoning skills with a high level of mental concentration and memory.
  10. Ability to develop positive interactions and solve complex problems in a professional manner under stress with patients, patients' families, physicians, and staff in order to effectively care for patients.
  11. Computer knowledge including the ability to enter material into electronic records. Ability to operate fax, computer, and copy machine to perform duties of position.
  12. The ability to demonstrate knowledge of developmental stages and apply developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for appropriate age of patient. Ability to maintain the appropriate level of knowledge and skills.
  13. Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in the following age groups:
    1. Infant (Neonate to Age 1)
    2. Pediatric (Age 1-11)
    3. Adolescent (12-18)
    4. Adult (19-64)
    5. Geriatric (Age 65 and older)
