Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at St. Luke's University Health Network. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering top-notch eye care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct preliminary eye exams, including vision screenings and intraocular pressure measurements.
  • Administer diagnostic tests and procedures, such as OCT, retinal photography, and visual field testing.
  • Assist with ophthalmic procedures, including laser eye surgery and injections.
  • Collect patient health histories and document medical records.
  • Educate patients on eye care and vision health, including contact lens use and amsler grid testing.
  • Perform office and administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and managing inventory.
  • Prepare patients for surgeries and assist with post-operative care.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in ophthalmology and participate in continuing education and professional development.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred, or minimum 1 year of ophthalmology experience.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care and a desire to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
