Overview

The Archdiocese of Chicago seeks a seasoned Strategic Operations Manager to lead its operations staff at one or more parishes. This professional will support the Catholic Church's teachings, mission, and values while overseeing financial management, school support, buildings management, and human resources.

Financial Management:

  • Budget Preparation: Develops and evaluates parish budgets, annual reports, profit & loss statements, balance sheets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledgers.
  • Variance Analysis: Creates monthly variance reports and reforecasts, reviewing all reports with the Pastor and Principal.
  • Bank Relationships: Serves as parish representative to banks, manages accounts, and resolves discrepancies.

School Support:

  • Economic Model Development: Manages the school economic model to assess financial impact.
  • Budget Assumptions: Supports the principal in developing assumptions for the annual budget and reforecasting school finances each fall.

Buildings Management:

  • Capital Projects: Oversees major repairs, renovations, and capital projects in accordance with Archdiocesan policies.
  • Maintenance Functions: Acts as liaison to administrative agencies and manages custodial maintenance functions.

Human Resources Management:

  • HR Policies: Works closely with the Vicariate Human Resource Manager regarding HR policies.
  • Staff Management: Manages payment of salaries and benefits, oversees the Parish office, and conducts yearly performance reviews.

Requirements:

  • Catholic Affiliation: Must be a practicing Catholic who understands, respects, and supports Catholic Church teachings, mission, and values.
  • Professional Experience: Requires experience in accounting, finance, or related business practices.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or better in Business, Accounting, or Finance.

Compensation: Estimated salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per year.
