Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medication Technician to join our team at American House Senior Living Communities. As a Medication Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by administering medications in a safe and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications to residents in accordance with physician orders and company policies.
  • Document medications administered on the medication administration record (MAR) and conduct regular checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct change of shift reports with oncoming and outgoing personnel to ensure seamless care.
  • Maintain the security of medication carts and narcotic keys during shifts and conduct narcotic counts at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene, and assist other caregivers as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with peers and other team members to ensure the highest level of care for residents.
  • Participate in and support resident-centered activities programs and provide care for sensory enhancement devices.
  • Complete housekeeping tasks, such as bed-making, linen changes, and cleaning bathrooms, and wash residents' laundry as needed.
  • Escort residents and coordinate internal transportation needs, and assist with personal correspondence and telephone usage.
  • Observe and report changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to the Wellness Director or charge nurse.
  • Conduct room checks and resident rounds, and monitor for environmental safety hazards.
  • Assist with dining tasks, such as setting up and cleaning tables, serving meals, and busing tables.
  • Respond to emergencies in a prompt and calm manner and report such incidents to the charge nurse.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and mandatory in-services, and document provision of services on company forms.
  • Use tactful and diplomatic communication techniques in sensitive situations and follow up with staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported complaints and concerns.
  • Act as an ambassador and public relations representative to guests and other off-campus visitors, and communicate with physicians and third-party specialists.
  • Copy special paperwork or forms, and demonstrate an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.
  • Collaborate with associates in other departments to ensure necessary care and services are provided, and participate in projects or committees as assigned.
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid Medication Technician certificate within the state of Florida
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassion for older adults
