Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Systems Engineer / Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our team in Melbourne, FL. This role involves designing and integrating aircraft mechanical systems, including developing mechanical architecture and selecting components for an aircraft platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems architecture (e.g., utility mechanisms, flight control systems, up-lock and down-lock systems, gear drive systems)
  • Specify and select aircraft mechanical systems components (e.g., electromechanical and/or hydraulic rotary/linear drive actuators, geared rotary actuators, door drive systems)
  • Qualify and certify mechanical systems components
  • Support lab testing and verification activities
  • Coordinate with stakeholders (Structural/Subsystem Design/Analysis Teams, Supplier Management Teams, Software Teams, Vehicle Management Systems Teams)

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 2 years of engineering experience OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline AND 2 years of engineering experience
  • Prior experience or familiarity with 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software applications
  • Able to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience with the specification, selection, and qualification of aircraft actuation hardware (electrically and hydraulically powered)
  • Aircraft mechanical systems design experience, including kinematic design/analysis and/or control systems logic

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $77,200 - $115,800, depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, Northrop Grumman offers a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
