Project Engineer Job Description

At Apex Companies, LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the technical aspect of projects, performing duties with varying degrees of complexity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, calculations, and designs for projects under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Assist the Project Manager in complying with project schedules and budgets by actively reporting on project progress and identifying additional work outside the contractual Scope of Work.
  • Work with subconsultants under the direction of the Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.
  • May serve as Lead Designer to produce a complete and coordinated project by meeting and effectively communicating with the project team.
  • Review calculations, design assumptions, and concepts within discipline to assure quality control.
  • Provide technical input into proposals by developing scope of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical presentations and participate in client meetings and/or technical presentations.
  • Develop expertise in pertinent local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients on technical issues by effectively communicating on a frequent and regular basis.
  • Lead fieldwork such as surveying, GPS data collection, infrastructure inspections, and construction observation.
  • Assist with construction administration by tracking and reviewing submittals, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, and tracking construction schedules.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering field and 4 years of experience of increasing responsibility is typically required, or a Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering field with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT), actively pursuing P.E. registration in a State(s) where EP does work or ability to obtain same by reciprocity.
  • Ability to effectively communicate/interact within project teams and with clients; ability to direct activities of less experienced staff; demonstrate effective written and oral skills.
