Job Summary:

Northern Light Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in a temporary, 36 hour/week, 12-week position with an enhanced pay rate. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and treating pediatric through geriatric cardiopulmonary patients with respiratory and/or cardiac impairment in accordance with physician directives, departmental protocols, and in conjunction with nursing staff.

Responsibilities:

Initiate and manage mechanical ventilators
Insert and/or care for artificial airways
Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and recommend therapy
Interpret clinical data and provide airway clearance and bronchoscopy assistance as needed
Participate in the Rapid Response Team, Code Team, Trauma Team, and Sepsis team as applicable
Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds in critical care areas and educate students/staff
Maintain a safe environment and report environmental hazards and patient safety policy violations

Requirements:

Graduate of a 2-year associate degree or a 4-year Baccalaureate Degree NBRC approved Respiratory Therapy Program
Maine State professional license and meet the current license eligibility requirements of the NBRC
BLS certification
Registered Respiratory Therapist credential
Demonstrates advanced knowledge and proficient practice in the role
Fully trained to all specialty areas, including NICU/PICU if applicable
Minimum of at least 2 years' experience depending on education

Working Conditions:

Potential exposure to diseases or infections
Potential exposure to hazardous materials
Work beyond the regularly scheduled hours
Lifting, moving, and loading 30 to 50 pounds
Alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends)
Prolonged periods of standing and walking
