At Canopy Builders, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Permit Coordinator to join our team. As a Permit Coordinator, you will be responsible for obtaining the necessary permits for residential construction projects. You will act as a liaison between our company, architects, engineers, and local government authorities to ensure all necessary approvals are obtained.

Key Responsibilities:

Determine which permits are required for each project and work with the relevant agencies to obtain necessary approvals.

Manage the permit application process, including preparing and submitting applications, tracking their status, and resolving any issues that may arise.

Coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure all necessary documentation is provided and deadlines are met.

Communicate with local government authorities and agencies to obtain all required approvals for permits and act as a liaison between the company and each municipality.

Work closely with the municipalities on the status of permits and ensure they are processed in a timely manner.

Provide management with projections for the issuance of building permits.

Maintain accurate records of all permit applications and approvals.

Apply for and set up utility services with the applicable utility companies in each municipality.

Prepare start packages for Construction Managers.

Attend project meetings and provide updates on permit status and any issues or concerns that may arise.

Identify potential risks and liabilities associated with the permitting process and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.

Support the Construction and Accounting Departments by performing administrative duties.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferably 2+ years of experience in building permit coordination or a related field.

Strong organizational and project management skills, ability to prioritize and take initiative.

Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and plot plans.

Excellent follow-up, communication (both written and verbal), and time management skills.

Ability to perform multiple detail-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.

Advanced PC skills; Microsoft Word and Excel.

Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

Working Conditions:

This is primarily an office-based position.

Occasional travel to job sites or government offices may be required.

Pay based on experience, starting at $55,000/yr plus bonuses. Benefits package including 401k matching, paid vacation, holidays, and medical insurance.
