Academic Enhancement Specialist at Boston University

The Assistant Director of Academic Enhancement at the Student Affairs Office is a pivotal role that requires a dynamic individual with exceptional interpersonal and group communication skills. We are seeking a candidate who can proactively identify student needs, thrive in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate a deep understanding of our medical students' unique requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Academic Advising: Provide individual and group academic advising to students enrolled in the medical school, developing tailored strategies for at-risk students and those seeking to enhance their academic experience.
- Program Development: Collaborate with the Director of Academic Enhancement, Deans, faculty, and staff to create content-specific learning programs and services, independently designing and implementing workshops to track student participation and evaluate effectiveness.
- Tutor Program Oversight: Supervise tutor coordinators, manage the online tutor database, provide tutor orientation, and ensure the tutoring program runs efficiently and effectively.
- Accommodation Implementation: Work closely with the Office of Disability Services to communicate and facilitate approved accommodations for students with documented disabilities, arranging testing accommodations and referrals as needed.
- Wellness Initiatives: Participate in creating and facilitating wellness activities as part of the Wellness team.
- Administrative Support: Oversee day-to-day operations for additional Student Affairs department programs, including White Coat ceremony, Match Day, Careers in Medicine, USMLE Programs, and Commencement.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in educational/counseling psychology, higher education, educational coaching, or related field.
- Minimum of three-five years post-degree experience providing diagnostic/prescriptive approach to learning skills assistance with adults, educational counseling, and academic advising.
- Experience working in post-secondary education settings, preferably with medical students.
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
