Critical Care Nurse Leader

Job DescriptionThis critical care nurse will provide quality patient care to critically ill patients, using the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation. They will serve as a patient advocate, supervising the nursing care provided to each patient by other caregivers. The ideal candidate will have the ability to apply critical thinking in order to promote positive clinical outcomes, ensuring patient education and participation in discharge planning.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the standard of nursing care and implementing policies and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department.
- Assessing the patient on admission within the required time frame and making referrals to other disciplines based on the assessment.
- Developing a nursing care plan for assigned patients on admission and updating the plan as needed, ensuring coordination with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
- Documenting patient admission assessments and reassessments, patient care plans, and other pertinent information completely in the patient's electronic medical record.
- Demonstrating correct use of biomedical equipment such as defibrillators, suction machines, IV and feeding pumps, PCA pumps, blood glucose monitoring machines, and recognizing and responding appropriately to patient changes in condition.
The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently. A strong commitment to teamwork and communication is essential, as well as the ability to adapt to changing situations.
