The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is a dynamic and collaborative organization that is dedicated to making a positive impact in the community. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tumbling/Gymnastics Instructor to join our team.

Job Summary

The Tumbling/Gymnastics Instructor will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction in gymnastics, tumbling, and dance movement to children aged 3-14 years. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and leading children, as well as the ability to develop or implement classes that are age-appropriate.

Responsibilities

  1. Design and deliver engaging and interactive classes that cater to the needs of children aged 3-14 years.
  2. Organize and maintain a safe and clean instructional space.
  3. Pre-plan class sessions to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for participants.
  4. Identify and report any hazardous or at-risk situations to the supervisor.
  5. Maintain a professional image and work collaboratively with staff and members.
  6. Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  7. Create opportunities for members to become involved in the Y's philanthropic work.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Program knowledge of age-appropriate motor development skills, proper and safe progression of gymnastic skills, rules, format, etc.
  • Minimum of one year of experience teaching gymnastics to children.
  • Strong character values, including respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring.
  • Strong communication skills and emotional maturity.
  • Current approved EMSA First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR Certifications (8 hours).
  • Completion of child abuse prevention training prior to the first day in the program.
