We are seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to join our team as an instructor for various biology courses.

About the Opportunity

This is a part-time, term-by-term contract position that offers the opportunity to teach a diverse student population and contribute to our mission of preparing students for lives of significance and service through education in the liberal arts, professional studies, and theology.

The Department of Biology at North Park University is committed to providing a high-quality education that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

As an adjunct faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching biology courses, including introductory courses such as Introduction to Environmental Science and Introduction to Cell Biology, as well as upper-level courses like Medical Terminology and Genetics.

You will also be expected to utilize the NP syllabus template, approved textbooks and supplemental course materials, and Canvas LMS to ensure a smooth and engaging learning experience for our students.

Additional Responsibilities

In addition to teaching responsibilities, you will also be required to:

  • Submit personalized course syllabi to the dean in electronic format one week prior to the course start date.
  • Adhere to printed course schedules meeting times and locations.
  • Be available to students outside of class by email and by appointment as needed.
  • Ensure all assessments within the course are graded and returned to students promptly.
  • Submit mid-term grades for traditional undergraduate classes.
  • Complete final grades and all course obligations by the due date published by the Registrar each term.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A Master's degree in a related field.
  • A clear understanding of North Park University's mission of Christian higher education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates who possess:

  • A terminal degree in a related field.
  • Experience using Canvas or comparable learning management systems.
  • Experience teaching at a university level.
  • Familiarity with online instruction.

Estimated Salary Range: $50-$75 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This salary range reflects a competitive estimate based on national averages and local market conditions.
