Role Purpose: Under the guidance of classroom teachers, the Educational Support Assistant will play a vital role in supervising and enhancing the learning experience of kindergarten students. This position also involves performing clerical tasks to support the instructional process.

Employment Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $17 - $19 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support:

  • Facilitates small group instruction and provides individualized support to students.
  • Assists students with lesson assignments to reinforce learning objectives.
  • Helps maintain a conducive classroom environment for effective learning.
  • Monitors students during classroom activities and outdoor play to ensure safety.
  • Supports students in various activities, including art, literacy, and fine motor skills.
  • Upholds confidentiality in all communications and supports special needs learners.
  • Maintains discipline in the absence of the teacher.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by teachers or administrators.

Clerical Duties:

  • Assists with record keeping, typing, and document duplication.
  • Supports staff in completing their work activities.
  • Operates various instructional media and office equipment.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports as needed.
  • Fosters positive relationships with parents, students, and educators.
  • Completes other related tasks as assigned.

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies.
  • Produce accurate work and complete assignments on time.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and take initiative in tasks.

Qualifications:

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of child development and behavior.
  • Techniques for motivating and managing students.
  • Proficiency in English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Basic record-keeping practices.
  • Awareness of public education goals and objectives.
  • Subject area knowledge relevant to the position.

Skills:

  • Ability to supervise and support students effectively.
  • Learn and apply instructional methods and procedures.
  • Perform clerical tasks and basic math calculations.
  • Exhibit a warm and understanding demeanor toward children.
  • Follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience in educational or therapeutic settings preferred.
  • Background checks and clearances are mandatory.
  • Certifications in Pro-Act, CPI, or CPR are advantageous.

Work Environment:

  • Occasional exposure to dust and allergens.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs and engaging in various physical activities.
  • Must have normal vision and hearing capabilities.
  • Noise levels may vary from moderate to high.
