Tesla is on a mission to revolutionize the way we interact with technology. As a Simulation Engineer on our Optimus team, you'll play a crucial role in accelerating the development of humanoid robots that can automate repetitive and mundane tasks.

About the Role

You will be responsible for creating highly realistic 3D virtual environments and assets for robotic interaction. Your expertise will help build an advanced procedural generation pipeline to scale our testing and training efforts efficiently. Collaborating with Software Engineers, Robotics experts, and fellow artists, you'll work together to push the boundaries of what's possible.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create sophisticated 3D navigation maps, manipulation environments, and assets to meet various simulation testing and training needs
  • Work closely with the Optimus team to continuously improve and automate asset and environment creation workflows
  • Develop innovative tools for 3D scene creation, visualization, and editing needs
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in 3D environment creation technologies to drive improvements in our agility
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate expertise in large-scale generation of procedural environments and domain randomization through your portfolio or code examples
  • Excellent knowledge of 3D creation tools such as Houdini, Blender, Maya, etc.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, with a willingness to learn and work on C++
  • Flexibility and a willingness to adapt quickly to the Simulation team's evolving needs
  • Understanding of high-performance assets in relation to ray-traced rendering and graphics pipelines
  • Solid analytical and spatial math skills related to Graphics and/or Robotics
  • Experience with Git, GitHub Automation, Linux, and Docker
  • Knowledge of vision-based ML and experience with NN training

Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $96,000 - $240,000, depending on individual factors such as location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
