Aerospace Engineer or Principal Engineer for Secondary Power Systems

Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented Aerospace Engineer or Principal Engineer to join our team of qualified individuals in Melbourne, FL. This role will involve designing and developing gearbox and auxiliary drive systems for military aircraft. The successful candidate will have experience in system design, analysis, testing, and troubleshooting, as well as strong communication skills to work with suppliers and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform responsible engineer activities, including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.
- Participate on a subcontractor management team and act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.
- Perform system related analysis, such as performance simulation, in support of the development, including integration with other aircraft subsystems.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of engineering experience for the Responsible/Analysis Engineer position. For the Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer position, the candidate will need a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree and 3 years of experience. Additionally, they must have professional experience related to the development and integration of gearboxes and auxiliary drive subsystems or components.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with aircraft subsystem development, requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft. Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software. Familiarity with auxiliary components such as generators, PMG, oil pumps and hydraulic pumps. Experience with lithium ion batteries and the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516.

Northrop Grumman offers a competitive salary range of $77,200 - $115,800, with potential for discretionary bonuses. Employees may also be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
