Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at American States Utility Services, Inc. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our water and wastewater systems across various military installations throughout the United States.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water and wastewater equipment, including pumps, motors, and generators.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Inspect and maintain electrical and mechanical systems for water and wastewater equipment.
  • Repair and maintain backflow devices, altitude valves, pressure regulating valves, and other apparatus and equipment.
  • Identify and acknowledge alarms on water and wastewater systems using SCADA/Telemetry.
  • Work with Superintendents or Maintenance Technician IV to prepare and maintain Operational Memos for all facilities.
  • Perform general housekeeping of buildings and grounds, maintenance at all water and wastewater facilities.
  • Maintain designated shop areas and clean assigned truck, maintenance tools, and repair equipment.
  • Work as a crew member in performing repairs on water and wastewater systems.
  • Report all sanitary sewer overflows to management/operator responsible in charge.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver's License issued by the state where employed.
  • Formal electrical schooling/training preferred.
  • Ability to obtain State required (as applicable) Maintenance Technician Level I Certification within 12 months of date of hire.
  • Ability to obtain an introductory level, State required (as applicable) water and/or wastewater certification within 12 months of date of hire.
  • Ability to obtain minimum of B CDL with tanker endorsement within 24 months of date of hire.
  • Ability to obtain crane certification within 24 months of date of hire.
  • Ability to obtain State required Backflow Certification within 36 months of date of hire.
  • Must take and pass Federal OSHA and or State Mandated Safety training with annual refresher courses as required by the associated regulations for this Position.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in confined spaces, areas exposed to noise and chemicals, and extreme weather conditions. The use of appropriate PPE is required. The position also requires lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 75 lbs.
