Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Specialist to join our team at the U.S. Marine Corps. As a key member of our application development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions that meet the needs of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the development and implementation of software solutions using approved standard application development software tools.
  • Analyze and refine system requirements to ensure that software solutions meet the needs of our organization.
  • Design and develop database requirements, including data structures, data collection requirements, and backup requirements.
  • Perform application testing, integration, and develop Life Cycle Management (LCM) documentation required to sustain systems.
  • Consult with customers to refine requirements and develop prototypes for customer review.
  • Work with the project manager and the customer to translate customer requirements into system specifications and record these in the System Requirements Specification (SyRS) Document for use during the development process.
Requirements
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience must demonstrate the following: consulting with customers to identify and specify requirements, analyzing and refining system requirements, translating system requirements into application prototypes, writing, debugging, and maintaining code, determining and designing application architecture, determining output media/formats, designing user interfaces, working with customers to test applications, assuring software and systems quality and functionality, integrating hardware and software components, writing and maintaining program documentation, evaluating new applications software technologies, ensuring the integration of all system components, planning systems implementation, and ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
  • Experience with Rapid Application Design techniques, software development, and database design.
  • Knowledge of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.

This position has been designated as a Cyberspace Workforce position in the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) work role of Software Developer proficiency level Basic. The incumbent of the position is required to obtain and maintain qualification in accordance with DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Management Program, February 15, 2023, and supporting Department of Navy policies.
