About The Position
The Children's Village seeks a dedicated Youth Development Program Specialist to join our team. This part-time role involves working with young adults aged 13-18 who have been impacted by the Juvenile Justice system in Westchester County.
Job Summary
As a Youth Development Program Specialist, you will be responsible for providing mentorship and education to program participants through group facilitation, individual mentoring, and case planning appointments. You will utilize your personal lived experiences combined with training and system expertise to help participants navigate systems and resources, build positive relationships, and instill resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement program plans that cater to the unique needs of each participant.
- Mentor and educate program participants on various life skills, including educational, employment, and housing systems and resources.
- Collaborate with community organizations and professionals to provide comprehensive support services to participants.
- Foster strong relationships with program participants, families, and community stakeholders.
- Participate in supervision and contribute to ongoing professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field (e.g., social work, counseling, education).
- Personal lived experience within the Child Welfare and/or Juvenile Justice system.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience working with youth in similar programs or settings.
- Knowledge of New York State educational, employment, and housing systems and resources.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and video conferencing platforms.
What We Offer
