Job Summary

The Texas Juvenile Justice Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Specialist IV - Education Reentry Liaison (GNS) to join our team. As a key member of our education and reentry team, you will be responsible for developing and monitoring youth reentry plans, providing technical assistance, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful reentry and transition back into the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement outreach, orientation, and review processes for students and staff to inform them of available reentry services and provide procedures for requesting and obtaining individual appointments or participation in group sessions.
  • Collaborate with school diagnosticians and special education staff to ensure students receiving special education services receive appropriate employment, continued education, and vocational training services and referrals to best prepare students for reentry and transition back to the community.
  • Provide program services that include vocational assessment, development of individualized service delivery plans, employability skills training, case management, college readiness training, career exploration, and advocacy skill development.
  • Consult and provide technical assistance to agency aftercare staff and facility staff to meet individual educational and vocational training reentry needs.
  • Meet with youth to develop and discuss reentry preparation plans, arrange and conduct individual and/or group sessions, and coordinate and monitor youth participation in activities relating to implementation of the reentry preparation plan.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in education and reentry, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant work experience are required.
