Job Summary

The Labor Birth Postpartum Assistant Nurse Manager is a key member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leadership in a dynamic environment. As a seasoned nurse with a passion for delivering high-quality care, you will be instrumental in driving our mission to provide excellence in patient experience, accessibility, and convenience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure patient and staff safety through effective risk management and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the patient experience by promoting positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHPS scores for the Labor Birth and Postpartum departments.
  • Perform clinical skills within the scope of practice of a registered nurse in the State of Florida, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and implement effective patient care plans, utilizing the nursing process to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Stay current with industry developments and best practices, maintaining a high level of clinical knowledge and competency.
  • Ensure adequate training and appropriate use of the electronic medical record, promoting compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a commitment to purposeful hourly or team rounding, bedside shift report, and no pass zones.
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, ensuring seamless collaboration and coordination of care.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with staffing guidelines, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to improve accessibility, education, information, and initiatives enhancing Women's and Children's care.

  • Demonstrate fiscal acumen and contribute to and support the strategic direction of the areas of responsibility and organization.
Qualifications
  • Education: BSN required, or conditional and time-limited waiver for BSN requirement may apply to internal associates who complete their BSN within three (3) years of transition to new role, or external candidates may apply who are currently enrolled in a BSN program to complete within two (2) years of hire.
  • Licensure: Current, active State of Florida RN license or endorsement.
  • Certification: Must hold and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion card upon transfer/start date, AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider Completion Card within 90 days of transfer/start and maintain, AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program Completion Card within 90 days of transfer/start date and maintain, and Certification in clinical specialty preferred.
  • Work Experience: Two (2) years of acute care clinical experience, progressive leadership or previous nursing management experience preferred, two (2) years of Labor and Delivery clinical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of TJC (The Joint Commission), Florida Nurse Practice Act, and other applicable agency regulations, thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to educate and speak/understand written and verbal communications in the English language, excellent interpersonal and relationship-building along with active listening skills to listen analyze needs from various ages and levels of education, excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to access and interpret data to educate members of the healthcare team, sound time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities, maintains professional competencies by attending continuing education programs and participating in professional organizations, and ability to respond appropriately to life-threatening/emergent situations.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
  • Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
  • May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overhead.
  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
