Job Summary:

The Staff Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual.

Demonstrates initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for the patient with complex needs.

Ability to effectively manage patients by assuming full responsibility for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of patient care and is directly responsible to a designated nurse manager, or supervisor.

Assures the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice.

BWFH 6 South is a 37 private bed medicine/telemetry teaching unit. The unit supports medical education and training to future and current physicians.

This is a fast paced medical unit providing care for a diverse adult population with acute and chronic conditions including: asthma, COPD, renal disease, DKA, DVT, flu, HTN, PE, pneumonia, sepsis and UTI and other clinical conditions.

The unit is equipped with the latest technology including telemetry, Vocera, Epic, and virtual patient observation using a Constant Monitoring System (CVM).

In 6 south, nursing staff are encouraged to acquire and maintain diverse and extensive knowledge and skills for professional growth and development.

We develop our staff to have high-level critical thinking skills, comprehensive knowledge of disease states and body systems, and strong communication and time management skills.

6 South utilizes a team approach in caring for patients - collaborating with physicians and other disciplines in developing individualized plan of care for each patient.

Qualifications:

BSN required.
Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure & Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.
Medical/surgical/telemetry experience strongly preferred.
Medical Surgical certification/specialty certification preferred.
Adheres to all I C.A.R.E. standards.
Must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
Demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities.
Ability to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.

Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, team work, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.
