Job Description

Clean Harbors in Seymour, CT is seeking a Field Service Foreperson to join our safety-conscious team. This position will be responsible for the direct supervision of the Field Technicians. Forepersons and Technicians will be responsible for the performance of tasks associated with emergency response (emergency spill cleanup), hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation (tank and pit cleaning), equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure Health and Safety: Our number one goal is to ensure health and safety by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Train and Mentor: Train and mentor the Field Service Technicians to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
  • Execute Projects: Execute projects and jobs within budget and on time.
  • Enforce Regulations: Enforce and ensure OSHA, EPA, and H&S standards or regulations are compliant.
  • Manage Resources: Understand and work with the Coordinator in the communication of manpower, equipment, and resources required to complete field service and emergency response projects.
  • Manage Large-Scale Projects: Manage large-scale field service and emergency response projects when directed.
  • Physical Labor: Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
  • Operate Equipment: Operate light and heavy equipment, handle various hand tools and powered industrial tools, work with vibration-producing tools.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection in multiple combinations.
  • Work in Various Conditions: Work in various temperatures, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions.
  • Work in Hazardous Environments: Work in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive.
  • Work in Confined Spaces: Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearance.
  • Work at Elevations: Work at elevations, including working from ladders and scaffolding.
  • Field Sampling: Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters.
  • Climbing: Climb ladders, scaffolding, and into and out of trucks, tanks, and various other containers.
  • Extended Work Periods: Work extended periods, including more than 8 hours.
  • Compliance and Safety Meetings: Attend all compliance and safety update meetings.
  • Drum Inspection: Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Safe Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Waste Stream Sampling: Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary.
  • Associated Paperwork: Complete associated paperwork, such as worksheets, vehicle inspections, equipment inspections, and permits.
  • Compliance Regulations: Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules.
  • Safe Vehicle Operation: Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Company Guidelines: Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
  • Environmental Health and Safety: Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
  • On-Call: Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week.
  • Lead Responsibilities: May perform lead responsibilities.
