Research Scientist, Machine Learning
Job Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist, Machine Learning to join our team at Waters. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing machine learning algorithms to improve the efficiency and efficacy of our analytical instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement machine learning algorithms to improve the efficiency and efficacy of our analytical instrumentation
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to evaluate and present results to stakeholders
- Maintain codebases and write unit tests using object-oriented programming and functional programming best practices
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, patent applications, and transferable protocols
- Contribute to the construction and maintenance of the AWS data pipeline
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant scientific literature
- 2 or more years of practical experience in machine learning
- S. in computer science, data science, or related discipline or B.S. with 2 or more years experience
- Experience in model development using Python for machine learning, statistical, and/or mechanistic models
- Robust programming skills in Python (e.g., numpy, pandas, scipy, scikit-learn)
- Comfortable with Git version control, BASH, or command prompt
- Able to communicate results using meaningful metrics and visualizations to managers and stakeholders
- Experience with one or more of the following is desirable: 1) predictive maintenance or other time series classification and prediction applications, 2) knowledge bases and semantic reasoning, 3) probabilistic programming and Bayesian inference, 4) big data analytics and pipelines
- Proficiency with AWS Lambda, S3, EC2, or Redshift
- Experience with containerizing models and deploying them to AWS
- Knowledge of an object-oriented or functional programming language, such as Java, C#, Scala
