At Columbia Athletic Clubs, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fitness Department Manager to oversee the fitness department and contribute to the overall success of the Club.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish the department as a resource for fitness enthusiasts, leading the community in programs, knowledge, events, education, and special clinics and workshops.
  • Monitor club usage levels, recognizing popular usage times and providing strategies to maximize usage throughout the day.
  • Survey and report on competitors and other facilities, providing insights on fees structures, lessons, programs, and compensation.
  • Develop and manage budgets, analyzing and reviewing financial statements to achieve established goals.

Essential Duties:
  • Administer, manage, and supervise staff, including grooming and training a potential successor.
  • Develop programs that cater to members and non-members, ensuring fairness and market satisfaction.
  • Forecast industry trends, plan, and budget accordingly.
  • Meet regularly with fitness staff and attend management meetings.
  • Identify facility needs and improvements, organizing and conducting promotional and educational activities.
  • Stay current on the latest technical and scientific knowledge in fitness, sharing information with staff.
  • Respond to member requests within 48 hours and write program updates and articles for the club newsletter.

Requirements:
  • 4-year degree in Exercise Science or related field.
  • ACSM certification or NSCA-CSCS.
  • 3 years of experience in the fitness industry.
  • CPR certification.
